The United States' people and government turned their attention west after the American Civil War and Reconstruction were over by 1877.
In 1890 the U.S. Census declared that the frontier in the United States was closed. The last government controlled land rushes took place in the early 1890s in what is present day Oklahoma. Do you think there are any modern frontiers that still can be explored and settled? Explain.

My grandma believed Lee Harvey Oswald was not alone. She believes that because you would probably need some other people to help you plan out where You should shot and the route that the president was taking. Also, it is believe that there were shots comming from different angles. Which most likely means there's other shooters involved.
I think that a modern frontier that can be explored is space. As of now we have only gone as far as the moon in the Apollo missions. Man hasn't been anywhere else. I think in the future we will settle in space. Until then, man has explored almost all of the entire world.

I think there are more frontiers to be explored and settled. We don't know if we could live on the moon even though we have been there. That is technically a new frontier to be settled. There are also many other solar systems that we haven't explored. For all we know, there are many more earths developing where we could settle. Until then, we have explored these solar systems, we won't know if we can settle there.
I think that the final frontier that we have only one frontier that we have a chance to be explored is outer space. America has explored some of the possible space to be explored with the various NASA mission like the Apollo missions. However, the amount of space that we have explored is barely anything and in the further advancements of science we could one day settle on the planets that would one day be discovered by future generations.

yes. I do think there are any modern frontiers that can still be explored and settled. Because the frontier is everywhere. in every area there is an unexplored territory. we can still explore space too

Yes, I do believe there are modern frontiers that can be explored. Places like the northern part of Canada have been explored very little. There's vast open places there that people haven't set foot in. There's also islands that haven't been found yet.
Amanda Flynn
I believe that there is still land to be discovered in the frontier. There are probably islands to still be discovered that no one has passed in boat yet, or land in Northern Canada where there is not a high population, since people have moved far North to the cold areas. Also, there might be an undiscovered planet.
I think there are modern frontiers that still can be explored and settled. I think this because there are still islands that have never been seen before. The earth is constantly reforming itself and making new land. I think it is impossible that all the frontiers have been seen. Northern Canada has not been fully discovered.

I believe that there are not any frontiers like Oklahoma but, there are many places in the United States that have not been explored. So as of modern frontiers, they do not exist. But, if you explored each of the states there could be places that have not yet been discovered where people could settle and create houses and such. An example of this would be Africa. In Africa, there may be places where animals live and people could place houses on where they live.

The one final frontier is space and the ability to go onto different planets like going in a different country. However one could be the building blocks of life and having super human abilities like the xmen.but I believe it's the space one which could help answer the question of aliens.

I do not think that there is any more modern frontier in the U.S. that has not been discovered. There might be some areas of forest that have not been found, but most of the frontier is used for farming crops or living. I believe this because when Lincoln issued the land rush, most of the land was taken up to Texas. The land that wasn't taken has been found and used for farming, living, and making business so people can live. Also, when the railroad was build, some of the West was taken up but that. They kept expanding the railroad so now it goes across the country.
No I do not think that the U.S should go and conquer more land because the U.S is big enough already. We should not go dictate other people over their land. All the other countries in this world have settled in and so have we. There is no need to gain new land, and start fighting with other people over it. Our nation is free and well developed. We should let other areas develop and become strong countries like us. Also the U.S shouldn't try to start a war.

I do not believe that there are anymore frontiers to explore in the United States. Since we are the top third leading country in population I believe that everyone has settled everywhere by now. However, I DO believe that there is still promising uncharted territory that has yet to be discovered. Who knows, that frontier may be in this world...or even a habitable planet in the universe that we have not discovered yet! The possibilities are endless in where we could go next!
I believe that their are frontiers in the world that have not been discovered out in the desert or in within the rural peninsula's of Alaska. This is because many people might gravitate towards common places living places of normal temperature because of the climate they prefer. Or some may want to live in a booming environment with a dense population in order to be closer to their friends and family. Including all people in general, clearly people want to live in a place that has all the proper necessities that they need for survival. Alaska and the dry desert like areas in this nation may be lacking of these because of their far and non remote locations. To conclude I believe their are more frontiers to be found.

I believe that there are still modern frontiers that can still be explored and settled. There are still many places left to explore and settle in, there are still frontiers on earth. Places such as the ocean has little known about them. The ocean holds many secrets, it's hard enough to explore and learn about it but to settle is in another level of difficulty. There are still many places on Earth to explore, and when that's done there's still space.

I think there is still land in the west. I think the government was just saying they were out of land because they realized they were giving out too much cheap land. There is probably extra land that could be found if someone tried. I think people could be living on the frontier today.
Megan O'Meara Period 3
I think there are not any modern frontiers that can still be explored and settled. Although there may be more land, it might not be safe for the settlers to travel into. The US census may have also shown a limmited population at the time. The government might not have wanted to spread people out too far too quickly. This may inter fear with their ability to structure them and make sure they are following US rules.
I think there is still modern frontiers left to be settled. Take Alaska for example. Alaska is the biggest state in America. However It is also the least populated state. almost 97.4 % of Alaska is wilderness. This shows that there is still a frontier in America. Also space is a frontier, take for example the moon. We can get there, however we haven't made a base there yet. Also we haven't landed on the other side of the moon. This evidence makes me firmly think that there is still a frontier to be settled.

No,I don't think there is any modern frontiers that could be explored or settled. I think this because there is no maps that show any other frontiers that could be found. Also we would know because we have so much modern technology that i think it would be easier to spot.

I do think there are frontiers and other pieces of land that can be discovered. This is because of how large the world is. There definitely could be undiscovered edges and borders of land. The Earth is so vast and there could be a possibility that we have undiscovered parts of land/frontiers. Even in space, there are tons of undiscovered milky ways, and there are planets we have yet to land on. For those reasons, I do think there are frontiers to be discovered
I do not believe that there are any more frontiers to be explored or settled in America. We have conquered all the land that we possibly could. For other continents, this might be a different story. Our world is 73% water. There has to be some islands that have not been discovered yet out in the ocean. –Victoria Yencik, Period 3.
Yes I believe that there is still frontier that is still out there. Like for example there is the whole idea of space and we have no idea what's out there but we still go out there to find out example the Moon. And I also believe that there is still land yet to be discovered in every ocean that we have on Earth like the Bermuda Triangle is still unknown and what lies within it.
Dawson Pallotta Period 8
No, I do not think there are any modern frontiers that still can be explored and settled today. Today, we can say that we've expanded ourselves all over the United States and even reached out into the Pacific Ocean to places like Hawaii and Alaska, which borders Canada. From censuses made today about population in a certain area you can clearly make out that people are living all over the continent. With the technology we have and the advanced transportation there is no real way we could have missed a spot in this country.

I do not believe there is any more frontiers left to be explored and settled. As we moved west because on Manifest Destiny, the people had discovered and explored most of the land, figuring out if it was good to be settled on. Land that was reserved for the Indians had been taken over and settled on. For example, when the government allowed, Americans to settle in Oklahoma during the Land Rush. As we moved west Alaska was the last frontier, leaving no more land that belongs to the United States to be explored now.

I think there are a few more modern frontiers to be settled/explored. I think in places such as Alaska where the terrain is so hard to live in and travel through, they may not have bothered to or even have the proper technology to explore it yet. Also the ocean and even the moon are things we haven't yet discovered a way to live in(or on). There could be many places just waiting to be explored.
Jessica Bajorinas Period 3
in modern day today I do not think that their are any more frontiers in North America to be explored because we took up all the valuable land, which is all the land. But I believe that if we travel farther out past the pacific into other countries that their are other frontiers to be explored and settled I to.

Yes, I think that there are still land to discover in the United States because in the West there are many states that are rural places and I think there may be some places in the wilderness that have not been settled onto. Also America is a very big country and it seems hard to say that you have discovered all the land in America.
Sarah Townson period 2
Yes, there could be because there could be territory that the government has for it self and does not want people to see or go too, like Area 51 that's the government but no one can go and say it's mine with out geting shit, so yes there is land there and people don't now about but the giver, net so the giver, ent is hiding land from us that they have and we can't settle under
Joey Samonek per3
I think there were still frontiers to settle after the 1890s. The government could have explored Alaska or Hawaii, which they later did, but at the time they didn't know those frontiers actually existed. The government could have also explored islands like Puerto Rico. So in conclusion, the government still had some more places to explore and settle in their new land.
Andrew, period 3
Yes, I do think that there are modern frontiers that can still be explored and settled. Even though this was in 1890 were the frontier in the United States was closed, that doesn't mean that other ones were closed as well. The last land rush took place in early 1890s in Oklahoma, but there still could be land rushes. People find things that are supposed to be "all gone," so people could definitely try to explore and get information.
Madison Samperi

Yes, there is still one more frontier of America and that is Alaska. We may have mapped it, but few people have settled there due to the harsh conditions. Also, the Oceans and seas of Earth have yet to be totally exported. We have only explored less than 5% of our waters. In terms of the whole world, space is the next frontier. We have hardly mapped our own Galaxy let alone settled near by planets.
Tommy Brisch
I do bot believe that there can still be settled. One reason is because one reason they might've stopped having land rushes is because there was no more land that could be settled. Another reason for this is because there were still land that could've been settled after the land rushes were stopped, it has probably already been settled on.

There are few frontiers left in today's world. In America, the only real frontiers left are in certain parts of Alaska. Also, many areas in Canada and South American countries have no one living in them and are unexplored. Some people might include the ocean and the moon frontiers as well.

I do not think that there are any modern frontiers that can still be explored in the United States, however I do beleive that in remote places such as the Ganghar Puensum or the mountains of Colombia, there is still much land to be explored or expanded into. Also, the Amazon rainforest could be a good place to expand into as well, considering the millions and millions of acres of untouched land. If the amazon rainforest was expanded into, it could be similiar to what happened with the native americans because there are still native tribes living in the Amazon that haven't been exposed to modern civilization.
Murray McCarthy
I do not believe there is much land or any frontiers left for us to explore. The majority of land on earth has already been claimed by various countries. The former frontiers of the world have been torn over by cities or taken over by large manufacturing companies. Even if we do find a new frontier it is unlikely to be turned into a "land rush" as there is still some land in the U.S. that isn't completely settled by large cities so why would U.S. citizens just leave the land of which they're accustomed to for some unknown land.

Yes, in the U.S there are mineral development rights in Alaska currently. But In Brazil almost the same exact thing is happening th goverment Is trying to move poverty in the city's out into rural Amazonia wich is almost exactly like the land rushes in the U.S.

I think there is no more modern frontiers that haven't been explored because the census took in 1890. That census was declaring there was no more. And ever since that census we have been gaining and exploring more and more land.
Yes, i do think there are still some frontiers to be explored because there is no possible way we could have explored all of them. There are a lot of areas that still need to be explored.

Yes, I believe that there are still modern frontiers to be explored, like northern Canada is still untouched and there can be islands that haven't even been founded yet.

I you think there are any modern frontiers that still can be explored and settled. I think this because there is still lots of land we haven't explored. There are still unknown islands and places we have yet to find. We can also go and explore un-populated places. We also may be able to explore and settle in space. In the future, we might have the technology to live in space.
Rachel Colegrove

I believe there are possibly more frontiers to be explored. For instance, parts of Alaska are remote and do not have people living in them. They have been unexplored. We may be educated and aware of these places, but, the reason that they are not populated is because of the harsh conditions.
Emma McCarthy
Period 8
There probably aren’t any frontiers that can be explored. The technology we have now can keep track of where everyone is. If there were any land spots that weren’t taken, people would have settled it by now. The only spots that are open and free are probably part of someone’s property, so they cannot be settled on. A modern frontier could be space, because we barely know anything about it and it is completely unexplored (excluding the moon and the surfaces of some immediate planets).
Maddie Winters

I think that there are more frontiers to be found for example there is space. We don't know if we could settle there or not but it is still a frontier because it is yet to be explored. Our astronauts have also been to the moon and some people think that we will be able to live on it in the future.
Brendan Andros per.3
Yes I think there are more frontiers to be explored and settled. There are a lot of places and areas people don't know of. There is also most likely more land in areas that aren't as populated. Also, I think they could discover places in space for humans to someday live on.
Alexa allan
I believe that there are many more frontiers to be found and explored. We have yet to discover other planets and galaxies that are able to provide shelter for humans. Also, Namibia, a country in Africa, and Tristan da Cunha, in South Africa, have yet to be clearly discovered by many people.

I think that there are more frontiers to be found, such as space. We do not know if we can settle there because we have found no intelligent life forms living in space. Even though our astrounaughts have been to the moon, some people think that we will be able to live on it in the future
