Some differences between Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis are that Abraham Lincoln took care of the States economy and Jefferson Davis didn't, he really only cared about the war. Jefferson Davis also tried to get foreign countries to help them win the war, but was unsuccessful. They both focused a lot on the war. Abraham Lincoln's main goal was to get the nation back together. Many historians believe that Jefferson Davis was a weak leader, but they believe that Abraham Lincoln was an incredible president.

Something that Abe and Jefferson had in common was that they were both born in Kentucky. Something else that they have in common is that they both were democrats. Something that they didn't have in common was that Abe was the 16th president of the United States and Jefferson was the first and only president of Confederate States of America. Another difference between Davis and Lincoln was that Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on April 15, 1865. Jefferson Davis died on December 6, 1889 of acute bronchitis.

In matters of war and military Davis was considered more experienced and knowledgeable. However, Lincoln was considered more effective when it came to moving forward in the civil war. Davis was also considered better at public relations while Lincoln had little knowledge about that.

Abraham Lincoln believed that everyone should be loyal to our country whereas Jefferson Davis believed in sectionalism. Both were against secession yet Davis became the leader of the Confederate. Davis had also previously fought in the Mexican-American war, meaning he had close combat experience unlike Abraham Lincoln. This probably gave him an advantage in war strategies. –Victoria Yencik, Period 3.

Jefferson Davis and Abraham Lincoln had a few differences and a few strange similarities. For example both were presidents during the civil war, were married, and were born the state of Kentucky. However they were on opposing sides, Lincoln on the Union's side and Davis on the Confederacy's side. They fought for different causes. Lincoln wanted to preserve the Union and stop the spread of slavery into the west, while Davis supported slavery and wanted to break away from the Union. Davis wanted to settle things trough war while Lincoln wanted to settle things through talking. This shows that both men were great men who were similar in some was and different in others.

Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis were both leaders during the Civil War, Jefferson Davis for the Confederate States of America, and Abraham Lincoln for the United States of America. Growing up, Jefferson Davis was very rich, his family had sent him to a expensive school where he got an education. On the other hand, Lincoln lived in a small log cabin without a formal education. They had both been born in Kentucky, but Lincoln with barely any education had moved to Indiana where studied law and excelled. Davis who used to be in the U.S military had moved to Mississippi where he got involved with growing cotton and owned a plantation. The had both had military experience, Lincoln had been involved with the Black Hawk war of the 1830s. Davis had joined the Democrats and Lincoln, a congressman, had joined the Whig Party, which had died out and he later joined the Republican Party that had just started out, clearly their beliefs on slavery had contrasted. Lincoln had wanted to maintain the Union whereas Davis believed slavery was best for the South. Jefferson Davis and Abraham Lincoln were both willing to sacrifice anything for their causes, Lincoln had died when he was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth in 1865 and Davis had died later on from disease in 1889.

Jefferson and Abraham were on different sides but they were similar, they were both born in Kentucky and are a bit of rivals, they had rivaled for senate before election for president.

Abraham Lincoln did not believe in slavery and fought alongside the Union army. Jefferson Davis fought alongside the Confederate army ans did believe in slavery. They both pictured the Nation very differently. Lincoln pictured a free nation and Davis pictured a nation with slavery. They did not agree on how they should run the government and the nation.

A difference between Davis and Lincoln was that Jefferson was a Democrat, while Lincoln was a Republican. Also, Jefferson used more of a war mentality while president, while Lincoln used a more peaceful mentality while president. A similarity between Jefferson and Lincoln was that they both were presidents of their respective countries. Also, both did very well in politics before becoming president.

Both Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis were different in many aspects. For example Lincoln tried to problem solve in order to avoid war. Whereas Jefferson Davis focused on the idea of war and conflict. This means that he had no interest in the stability of the government. Fore he could not smoothly run the nation or keep the southern economy afloat because he lacked both political and analytical skills. Also, Abraham Lincoln sided with the Union opposed to the Confederates, like Jefferson Davis had done. Of course this made Jefferson a controversial character in the eyes of several citizens. Many thought that the idea of secession from the United States was idiotic. Therefore Abraham Lincolns practical personality and political views made him a better president.

President Abraham Lincoln and Confederate President Jefferson Davis were very different. Lincoln was for the Union and Davis was for the Confederacy. That means that Lincoln was against slavery and Davis was for slavery. Davis also had a war like attitude unlike Lincoln, who wanted peace throughout the country. Lincoln was leader of the North who wanted to have a free country, and Davis was the leader of the South who wanted a slavery country.

Both Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis were leaders during the period of the civil war, however, Lincoln was the president of the Untied States of America while Davis was a leader of the Confederate States of America which were enemies. Also, Lincoln and Davis both originated from the state of Kentucky and kept their ties with the state throughout their lives. Despite Abraham Lincoln being a abolitionist and Jefferson Davis being a pro-slavery citizen they both highly defended their beliefs. Both men had a military background however they carried themselves differently. Lincoln was an approachable person and found military life didn't suit him; a lanky man. On the contrary, Davis, fought in the Mexican war which Lincoln helped end; a very broad man. In the end, these two important men to their followers fought in the bloodiest war, the Civil War, from 1861-1865.

One difference between Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis is that they were on opposite sides during the war. Lincoln was a Unionist and Davis was a Confederate. Abe was on the side opposing the secession in the territories, and Jefferson was in favor of the Southern states becoming their own country. Another difference was that Lincoln tried to solve problems with his and his co-worker’s brains instead of violence. Davis was the complete opposite. President Lincoln and President Jefferson Davis were very different at the time of the American Civil War because Lincoln was the president of America while Davis was the opposing president of the Confederate States of America and was trying to fend off invading armies from the North all while trying to form a separate republic. In other words, these two presidents were fighting one another during the A.C.W. Lincoln and Davis were alike during the Civil War because both of their objectives were to motivate most of the U.S. to join one of them, Lincoln (North) or Davis (South), to bring a change into the country.

Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis are very different types of presidents in more ways than one. They were not only differed in opinion, they were the presidents of two feuding countries at war. They led their countries in different ways. Abraham Lincoln led his country with a principle of freedom and independence and Davis ran his with a complete lack of it for African American people. They had different ideas about what was right for a country for the future expansion and termination of slavery of their countries which eventually led the presidents to war with one another of this issue.

Abe Lincoln was a republican who had won almost every single northerners vote in the 1860 presadental election. He was against slavery and wanted to destroy it but he had a greater intrest. He wanted to keep the union together. He would of been willing to give the south another slave state or two to keep the union together. On the other had Jefferson Davis was a demarcat he wanted the south to be independent. He also suported slavery. As you can tell they were two completely different men and so were their populations they governed.

Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis, both presidents but of different parts of the U.S. The North and the South. Lincoln and Davis both good politicians, however Lincoln lacked strength in his military knowledge. He had General Grant command the Union army. Davis got his military strength from serving in the military. Jefferson's fault was that he devoted his attention to war. Because of this, the economy of the south started to fall apart. They printed more money but that just decreased the worth of the confederate bill. While Grant was in control of the military, Lincoln had time to focus on the economy of the north and helping the people.

Compare: Both Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis had different opinions, but some things they had in common. They were both a president, and at the same time. Abe and Davis were both presidents during 1861 to 1865, which was the starting and ending year of the American Civil War. Abe was president of the U.S., and Davis was president of the Confederate States.
Contrast: In the American Civil war, Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis were both presidents, but wanted different things. Abe wanted to stop the spread of slavery into the west part of the United States. But on the other hand, Davis wanted slavery in the Confederate States. Another reason why they didn't think the same way was because Davis was indicating that he wanted war against the United States about the issue of slavery. Abe didn't want war but wanted to stop the constant fighting between the North and South which in the end resulted in the American Civil War.

A difference between Jefferson Davis and Abraham Lincoln was that they fought in the civil war for opposite reasons. Davis wanted slavery and Lincoln did not. This was mostly because they were in different parts of the union; Davis in the South and Lincoln in the North. Another difference between them was Davis was head of the Confederacy while Lincoln was leader of the Union. This shows that Lincoln has more power over the whole union than Davis would ever have, even though the Southerners did not like Lincoln. Lincoln would always have more power than Davis except Davis had more political and military experience.

on difference between Lincoln and Davis is Lincoln tried to avoid wars, whereas Davis preferred to go to war. When South Carolina left the USA, Lincoln told everyone to relax, take some time and figure everything out. Lincoln much rather take time and figure the problem out, rather than go right to war. Davis on the other hand wanted to go to war. If Davis was president then he would probably go to war as soon as South Carolina announced that they were leaving the USA. Another difference was that Lincoln had a hard time gaining the control of the people under him, but Davis made too many enemies while gaining the control of the people under him. In the end Lincoln was less violent and an eager to please president, and Davis was more violent and didn't care if he had to push people down to in order to gain control.
