A turning point is when something changes direction. A turning point in my life is when my mom got a boyfriend and they moved in together. It changed my life because I had to deal with many new things such as a new house, a new family, moving into a new town, eventually where I met new friends. A turning point in the Civil War was the Battle of Bull Run where they realized the war wasn't going to last a few months, it was going to last much longer.

A turning point is when a decision is made or an occurrence happens that usually changes the expected outcome of something. A turning point in my life is when I decided to come to Jockey Hollow. At that point in my life I had been bouncing around a few private schools. I never really found what I wanted at any of these schools. Now that I look back I would not have done anything different. Coming to Jockey Hollow I believe has really made me come a lot closer in my pursuit of happiness. ****I request that you only see this and not publish it in the comments section for privacy purposes**** The turning point in the American Civil War is the Battle of Gettysburg at this point because of Robert Lee's victory in the last battle he had it in the bag. However, after the battle at Gettysburg Lee's troops lost to Union General George Meade's troops because he was surprised about the heart and ferocity that the Union soldiers fought with. ****I ask you again to not publish this in the comments section. I'd rather not have anyone else see it. Thank you.****

A turning point is when something turns from bad to good or when something turns in somebody's life. A turning point in my life was when I first started taking algebra. In the past I had been pretty good at math but when I got back my first test in algebra I got a bad grade. That was when I realized that I need to study extra hard and do problems on my own or I would fall behind in that class. I Think a turning point in the American Civil War was when Grant became the general of the Union. After he led the troops the US won the war.

A turning point is when something happens and it is like a Sign of what is going to happen next. I have not experienced a turning point in my life yet. The turning point in the Civil war was when the North won the battle of Gettysburg. The South was not able to recover enough from that battle to get back in the war and keep fighting. They were to weak.

A turning point is when a change occurs, which can be beneficial. A turning point in my life was when I went from elementary school to middle school. It gave me more freedom and I got to go to different school. The turning point in the war was when Lincoln decided that a the war was also to end slavery not just to preserve the union. This helped the union because they got more people to fight for them, the african americans.

A turning point is time at when a change in a situation occurs, usually has a beneficial result. The turning point in the American Civil War was when Lincoln decided the war was about ending slavery rather than preserving the union. A turning point in my life was when I moved up to middle school. It was a very big change. In the end, middle school has made me a more mature person.

A turning point is where something goes from one situation and turns to another. In real life I experienced a turning point when I decided that I didn't want to just shoot archery for fun and decided to start shooting competitively. After researching I found out the the Battle of Gettysburg is considered the turning point in the civil war.

Turning point is a time at which a change in the situation occurs. A turning point in my life was when I realized that when I switch from middle school to high school I will have to work much harder and be more dedicated to school. The Battle of Gettysburg was considered the turning point in the American Civil War.

A turning point is when a situation turns to favor the other side. An example of a turning point is in a football game. Most of the time, the losing team can score another touchdown. This would be the turning point in the game. In the Civil War, I believe the turning point was right after Antietam. The Union had won the battle AND Lincoln made an announcement on slavery (the Emancipation Declaration). –Victoria Yencik, Period 3.

A turning point is when everything changes, based on a decision. It usually turns out to be a beneficial outcome. One time a turning point occurred in my life was when I came home from school one day and said that I wanted to try Tae Kwon Do. Now I am a black belt and go to practices three times a week. The turning point of the Civil War was the Emancipation Proclamation. This made a big difference and affected the outcome of the war.

A turning point is when something changes drastically; for the worse or the better. A turning point in my life was definitely middle school. Most of my close friends went to STEM or moved away and I was left with one friend who abandoned me immediately. It got pretty hard from there because without my friends I lost a lot of self-esteem and confidence and middle school seemed a lot less bearable and a whole lot longer, much like the North when they discovered in the Battle of Bull Run that the war was going to last a lot longer than they thought and weren't as confident that they were going to win the war.

The turning point of the American Civil War is noted as early July of 1863; the Battle of Gettysburg. The Battle of Gettysburg was an important win for the North because it restricted ability for the South to advance. About one third of the attacking force of the Confederate army was dead. Since the Confederates had lost so many soldiers and they couldn't replace them because of the lack of people to begin with, it weakened the force greatly. A turning point in my life has been recent, I didn't make a team I was hoping to be on. I got home and practiced for about two hours and I am focusing more on practicing than anything else. The event had a negative effect on me at first, and I felt badly about myself, but I just wanted to get better and be better than I thought I could be and better than anyone else thought I could be. So, I am going to continue to work to get better.

A turning point is an event that changes the course of history or positively impacts someone's life. An example of a turning point that occurred in my life was when I had surgery last year on my leg. This benefited me because I was finally able to walk without having chronic pain in my left foot afterwards. During my recovery all the progress I had made as I learned how to walk again truly marked a transformation because I no longer had any negative thoughts or any worries about it for the future. It is clear, that this relates to the civil war because a major turning point took place when Abraham Lincoln signed The Emancipation Proclamation after The Battle Of Antietam. The signing of this document declared that all slaves from the rebel states would be free. In doing this he figured his actions were logical because he assumed that soon other states would ban this concept as well. To conclude, both of these experiences both of these experiences changed the course of lives during the past and present.

A turning point is when a big change occurs. For example when a sports team is winning and the opposing team starts to do better and takes the lead. In this case, the turning point of the American Civil War was the victory of The Battle of Gettysburg for the Union. Before the battle of Gettysburg, the South was dominating in the war. The only major victory for the North at the time was the Battle of Antietam. Then Gettysburg came by. In General Lee's attempt to land a big victory on Union soil, they suffered a major defeat; more than 28,000 Confederate soldiers died. "These events, coupled with Lee's defeat at Gettysburg, make July 1863 the major turning point of the Civil War. Now the Union had the upper hand"(Section 5- Decisive Battle, page 535)

A "turning point" is a time at which the outcome that most people believed would be true changes to a different outcome. One time when I was younger, I was plating Mario Kart with my siblings. Everyone thought I was going to win because I was in first place. Right before I got to the finish line, my sister got a blue shell and knocked out my kart. I got put in second place and she won. The turning point of the Civil War is the Battle of Gettysburg. Before the battle everyone thought the South was going to win, but the North beat Lee's troops and the Confederates never recovered.

The turning point of the American Civil War was the Battle of Gettysburg on July 1-3 1863 because with the major victory at Gettysburg the War was looking like a northern dominant war. Thanks to the many deaths of many Confederate soldiers which was a major victory for the North and a very weakening blow to the South's chances in the war. One turning point in my life was when I played a higher level of soccer playing for a premiere level team because it meant a certain level of commitment and time to a cause which I have followed a kept with it my benefit which has brought me great opportunities.

A turning point is when something that everyone will think will happen but then it changes and the other person/ side makes the win or victory. In the super bowl the Seahawks were on the 2 yard line and everyone thought that they were gonna go to score and win the game but then Russel Wilson went to throw a pass but the Patriot defense came out and intercepted the ball and won the game.

A turning point is when something changes causing someone else or something else to happen. For example, in sports, a turning point is when a team starts to make a comeback. A turning point in my life is when I came to know Christ. It changed my life. It changed how I lived everyday. A turning point in the Civil War is when Abe Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This was a turning point because it changed the objective of the war to not only preserving the Union, but to fighting to free slaves. It showed the South that they would be punished if they lost and it made the South fight harder.

A turning point is when something, as little as a dispute to a major war, is when the sides turn and when you thought that something was going to happen, the other side makes it's move. The turning point in the war was when the emancipation proclamation was signed by Lincoln. Then the sides turned and the north was begging to be the upper side.

An example of a turning point is like when the opposing or away team has scored four to one, but then the home team had a comeback and scored five in the remainder of the time. A turning point is when something in life changes. An example of a turning point in my life is when I babysat for my 3 year old cousin. It was a turning point because it was a new experience that I have never done before. A turning point in the American Civil war is 4th of July because it "well-documented battles resulted in Confederate defeats."

A turning point is point when you make a decision and the course of events following have or will change. A turning point in my life was a couple of years ago and I got bad grades when I first moved to Monroe. There was this one report card that I showed to parents, and they were really disappointed in me. Since that was probably the worst feeling ever, I realized that I actually needed to put effort into school and maybe actually study for a test, which changed a lot of things for me. A turning point in the Civil War from the view from the military was the Battle of Gettysburg and Vicksburg. In Gettysburg, the Union had defeated General Lee’s army when their forces forced the Confederate side to retreat. This showed that the Union was guaranteed to win the war with their strong forces and their numbers considering the other side had lost thousands of troops and many generals that they could not replace. Also when the North had gotten full control of the Mississippi River making it nearly impossible for many important goods to get to the South, the North had basically had the victory of the Civil War in their hands. The war had gone from being an almost even match to the war in the North’s favor.

A turning point can also be known as a time or event that changes course of something. The Civil War's turning point was the Battle of Gettysburg from July 1-3 in 1863. A turning point in my life was when I decided to do dance. A year after my first year of dance, I joined my dance studio's company. This required 9 hours class throughout the week. This was a turning point in my life because it changed course of my week, and how I managed my schoolwork/social life .

A turning point is when a drastic change happens which forms the situation into a better one. An example of a turning point from my life is when I had a weight problem as a child and overcame that hurdle when I took control of what I ate and played a bunch of basketball and lost the weight. Two of the turning points in the American Civil War were, the political one, of Lincoln issuing the Emancipation Proclamation which turning the point of the war from saving the Union to saving the Union and ending the practice of slavery. Another turning point in the war was when the war at Gettysburg left the Confederates from having a military of 15,000 men to just 300 after the charge forward to press against the Union; this was a turning point for the North as it put the war in their favor now.

A turning point is when an event occurs that changes the outcome in either a positive or negative way. A turning point in my life was when I was diagnosed with scoliosis last year. It “turned my life” because I had to start wearing a back brace all through 7th grade and up to this point. It impacted the clothes I wore, the activities I could participate in, and I had to change in the nurse’s office for gym every other day. The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the war because the Confederates lost. Richmond had already exhausted their men and supplies and had nothing left to give General Lee. The last battle was with all of the men Lee had left, whereas the Union was able to continuously supplied with replacement men for the ones they had lost.

But at the end we got a brake away and scored which was against the assumed outcome of the other teams victory. The turning point in the war was when the tides shifted from being a war about union to a war about slavery.

A turning point is when there is a change in your life for better or for worse. An example of a turning point in my life is when I got straight A's on my report card. The feeling of doing good helped me work harder in school. The capture of Vicksburg and the victory in the Battle of Gettysburg in July 1863 were the turning points of the American Civil War. The loss of Vicksburg caused the Confederacy to lose control of a the Mississippi River which prevented supplies from Texas and Arkansas that were needed to keep the Confederates going. Also, 30,000 Confederate soldiers surrendered which was a significant loss to the Confederates. Within a week of this event Robert E. Lee suffered his first major defeat at the Battle of Gettysburg. He suffered serious casualties and from that point forward Lee attempted no more strategic offensives.

The turning point of the war was the Emancipation Proclamation. This is because when Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation it changed the war from just a war to keep the union together to a war of abolishing slavery. This helped in many ways it gave a reason for the north to gain a reason to allow African-Americans to join the union army, That was 200,000 more men for the union to add to their already large army.
